Todd Duffee: Biting the hand that feeds you…
By Curtis Clontz on Sep 08, 2010
Once upon a time, Todd Duffee was the new hotness. He was the exact thing Dana and the UFC thought they were looking for. At UFC 102 Duffee stole the show with a seven second KO…
It took just as long to end his UFC career! The UFC brass gave him the boot, and performance had nothing to do to it.
In the mass media of sports you have cocky arrogant athletes and then you have prima donnas. For every Rhodes Scholar gentleman you have hundreds of T.O. types that often appear to have diarrhea of the mouth.
The mantra “act like you have been there before” is dissapearing in all levels of pro sports.
It appears that Todd Duffe was more instrumental in his release from the UFC than his loss against Mike Russow. At least against Russow he had a chance.
In a perfect “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” scenario, Duffe got the boot because of his attitude. This character flaw simply rubbed the UFC front office the wrong way.
Although Duffee no longer calls the UFC home, he will be undoubtedly receive offers from many other organizations.
He is a larger than life athlete than is exciting in the sport. He owns the fastest KO in the UFC, and has finished every win in his pro career by KO/TKO.
Duffee is an easy sell for many reasons, but could be a key contribution to any heavyweight division in need of someone that is not afraid to stand and bang.
If Strikeforce is looking for someone else to stand with Brett Rogers, then this could be the perfect person. If they were to give him a cake fight, let him steam roll someone, they could build a Rogers fight. A fight that people would want to watch because they will stand and bang.
Big Todd will find a new job soon, suitors are sure to be blowing up his phone! Expect to see him fight before the year is out. Now he not only has the motivation of coming off of a loss, he also will feel the need to prove the UFC wrong.
