Press Release
RIE-MMA assembles All-Star cast & “Open Call” tryouts
American Cage Warriors event lined with star judges Sterling, Virginia – [For Immediate Release] – Respect Is Earned (www.RIE-MMA.com) will host a new event, American Cage Warriors… The Beginning, an all amateur event, on July 30-31st, at the Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling, Virginia. This unique MMA event will take place over two days. Day one consisting of tryouts including a panel of judges from the likes of Jens Pulver, Don “Cowboy” Cerrone, Mario Yamasaki, Monte Cox, Tara LaRosa, Phil Migliarese, Rick McCoy, Kristi Bowersock and RIE is currently in deliberations with Wanderlei Silva, Bas Rutten, former UFC commentator Jeff Blatnick and others. TapouT is joining the event and future American Cage Warriors (ACW) events to sponsor the top fighter from each event and bring them to the TapouT ranch in New Mexico to help further their career.
Fighters competing in the tryouts will be ranked by the judges and from those rankings, at least 4, four man brackets will be created for the event Saturday, July 31st. Brackets will not be predetermined but rather based on the best group of fighters from the tryouts and a bracket will be created within that weight class. Fighters who successfully make the brackets will be competing for a multi-fight, pro contract (non exclusive) with RIE and $500 signing bonus for each bracket winner, plus the TapouT sponsorship for one lucky fighter. The Global Combat Alliance’s (GCA will sanction the event) rules state, a fighter may compete in up to 2 (two) fights in a night and the ACW show will truly test and showcase fighters based on this rule. Each bracket will have 2 fights, back to back, to determine the two finalists. Those finalists will then be facing each other later that night to determine the winner of the bracket and will immediately be awarded the contract, though fighters/managers may choose to stay amateur with the awarded contract waiting for their transition.
Respect Is Earned CEO, Jon Price is very excited to have created a unique event for fighters and fans. “We are absolutely jacked about ACW, it’s never really been done before but I think it’s something everyone wants to see. For the fighters to be in front of a panel of this caliber is a rare opportunity to say the least; and for the fans, seeing an up-and-coming, natural-born superstar, at their inception, will be really awesome to witness,” said Price.
The ACW open call to all amateurs was designed with potential to draw out many of the current amateur fighters and with the hopes of finding the next best talent across the country. It’s an opportunity for a potential fighter to determine where they are versus where they think they are, by getting an opportunity to tryout in front of some of the most knowledgeable and experienced MMA fighters, trainers and managers; and getting instant feedback from those judges.
