S.J., thanks for the reply. Although my situation is far different than yours, I still don't see how this is safe for any fighter and worth the little money that is made. Why not start up real MMA fights in these countries, with MMA rules, instead of this bizarre "Shock fighting"? I bet people would still enjoy legal MMA just as much.

Hello,

I come from a third-world, South American country and I've heard a very similar "sport" going around down there. It might be a little bit extreme, but I doubt anybody is getting hurt. One good thing really comes out from this: The money that these types of "productions" put out in such devastated economies really help these people. Some might call it exploitation, but when you only have $1 dollar per week to survive, a few extra dollars could really come in handy. Plus, the third-world mentality is soooo different to the U.S.; maybe, those things that we might think that may be violating human rights, etc. is actually something fun for the people down there. Believe me, I come from there. Lastly, after living in rural places here in the US and listening to my friends telling me stories about how they used to shock each other with car batteries, this is nothing! Good for these people if they are feeding third-world people. At least, somebody cares... sometimes, the mean does justify the end.
