Dan Henderson signs with Strikeforce for many reasons
By Brandt DeLorenzo on Dec 07, 2009
It only took six weeks for Dan Henderson to finalize his agreement with Strikeforce and sign a four-fight, 16 month deal, says Loretta Hunt at Sherdog.
News of the signing first appeared in mid-October after the middleweight brutally knocked out opposing Ultimate Fighter 9 coach, Michael Bisping. Since then, little has been said regarding his singing with Strikeforce, so the news today brings some closure to the initial agreement.
Interestingly, Dana White says that he pushed Henderson towards the Strikeforce deal. Unlike other rival national promotions that have already failed, Strikeforce has garnered many big name fighters to compete against the UFC without White constantly dissing the organization. White did say, however, that Henderson was not worth the money that he wanted from the UFC to continue fighting for the largest U.S. MMA organization.
Henderson has already explained his reasoning for choosing Strikeforce over the UFC, including a statement that his decision was not purely financial.
