One Small Step for MMA
By Josh Stein on Dec 01, 2009
MMA won another victory recently, as the great state of Massachusetts has agreed to legalize and regulate the sport. Dana White seems ready for the UFC in Boston, and there are high hopes that this will have a major impact on legalization talks in the state of New York.
My personal speculation and happiness aside, it’s a big win for the sport as a whole, and definitely expect the UFC in Boston soon. Dana, despite not being born in Massachusetts, is a huge Red Sox fan and lived in Boston for much of his life, so this has got to be a nice personal victory for him.

This is great news for the sport. I would love to take a drive to Boston for a fight. However, I still doubt that MMA is going to be legalized in NY anytime soon. Mainly because there still are conflicts with unions, promoters (boxing), and other groups and Zuffa. The union is a killer because they hold a lot of sway in NY politics. So I wouldn’t hold my breath.
