Final Numbers Put Fedor vs. Rogers at 5.46 Million
By Josh Stein on Nov 10, 2009
I made a note about early speculation on the numbers for Fedor vs. Rogers being a soft 3.9 million viewers. It turns out, that speculation was both justified and right on the money.
A report from 5 ounces is saying that the average viewership was 4.04 million and that the main event fight between Fedor Emelianenko (31-1-0-1 MMA, #1 IWMMAR) and Brett Rogers (10-1 MMA, #6 IWMMAR) drew, at its peak, 5.46 million viewers. While Kimbo Slice’s fight with James Thompson peaked at a little over a million higher than that, the Fedor fight is a solid showing for an organization that is still building its mainstream appeal.
Fedor may not be a crossover star, but the numbers certainly show that Fedor is capable of being a huge draw for MMA fans, and the fact that it was the most watched program among men ages 18-34 (where MMA seems to stomp pretty much all of the competition) means that we’ll probably see a second Strikeforce even on CBS in the next six months.

I am sure those numbers moved around given that it was a Saturday night and college football was on as well (think about how many men in that age group were at games or watching on tv). But not a bad showing, still put Gina Carano on that show and a million more is easily.
