Totally agree with what your saying the weight cut, no excuse!

Machida might adapt his style to the leg kick and no doubt he will, but Shogan is an awesome and clever fight he will come up with another game plan.

Curtis you're are 100% right about Johnson and the KO of the Night award, there is no way he should have gotten it and the UFC got it right. However, as much as I agree that Shogun won the fight, I can see how he di not do enough in the judges eyes to win.

First, I would imagine that most of these judges were probably boxing judges which could have influenced their assessment of the leg kicks. Yes Shogun landed them hard and at will, but the amount of damage he did during the fight may not have been apparent to them. Lyoto continued to move well and was rarely in danger. Also Lyoto continued to be aggressive throughout most of the fight and his strikes did some damage. Had those been jabs from Shogun he probably would've won, or had he followed them up with take downs or more aggressive strikes. But the judges probably saw the leg kicks as a way to score points to win and not to actually win the fight. And they perhaps graded him down for aggressiveness or something. Just my take, but I think Shogun won outright.
