Mousasi vs. Sokoudjou to Appear on CBS Card
By Josh Stein on Oct 10, 2009
November 7th, when the world’s top heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (30-1-0-1 MMA, #1 IWMMAR) looks for his thirty first victory, making his debut in Strikeforce against up-and-coming warrior Brett Rogers (10-0 MMA, #6 IWMMAR) the U.S. will get to watch for free on CBS.
Along with the fight between Emelianenko and Rogers, the televised card will feature a fight between freshly crowned Strikeforce lightheavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (26-2-1 MMA, #7 IWMMAR) will take on Dream Superhulk Grand Prix finalist Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (7-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC). Both are coming off of impressive first round wins. While the fight will not be a title bout, even if it were, it wouldn’t go the full five rounds. Mousasi has the striking and the submission game to finish Sokoudjou before the judges can offer their input, and Sokoudjou’s finishing power is well documented.
The card also includes a middleweight title fight between top welterweight Jake Shields (23-4-1 MMA, #4 IWMMAR), who’s been impressive at middleweight lately, and accomplished warrior and noted personality Jason “MayheM” Miller (22-6-0-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and a bout between submission machine Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum (12-4-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Antonio “Pezao” Silva (13-1 MMA) in what will be Pezao’s first fight in the United States since he was suspended for testing positive for a banned substance following his fight with the late Justin Eilers (19-6-1-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC).
