Cacareco may Return to the U.S.
By Josh Stein on Oct 08, 2009
Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira (17-6 MMA) has long been one of my favorite fighters, with phenomenal wrestling and powerful leglocks and guillotines. He’s truly a world class submission fighter, and has competed in many of the world’s best grappling tournaments.
After a fourteen month hiatus, Cacareco returned to action after working extensively with Chute Boxe, competing in the respectable Jungle Fight promotion in Brazil. Cacareco destroyed his opponent in 16 seconds, slapping on an ankle lock and forcing the tapout. It is the fastest win of his career, and that’s saying something, given that he has posted six submission wins in under a minute each. In his previous fight, back in February of 2008, he set a personal best by submitting Lew Polley (10-3 MMA) in 20 seconds with a guillotine choke (that was Cacareco’s last fight in the United States, held in the now defunct IFL).
The appearance (though it’s hard to tell, given Tatame’s translations from Portugese-to-English are difficult to follow) is that Cacareco will continue to fight with Jungle Fight, but that they will bring him into one of their fights in the States or Japan.
