Fight Night: Diaz vs. Guillard Results
By Brandt DeLorenzo on Sep 16, 2009
Nate Quarry vs. Tim Credeur was a sloppy slugfest that was a reminder of the first Ultimate Fighter finale when Forrest Griffin narrowly beat Stephan Bonnar to become the winner of the very first season’s show. All offense, no defense and the crowd loved it.
Nate Quarry def. Tim Credeur via decision.
Carlos Condit vs. Jake Ellenberger showcased back and forth standup and jiu-jitsu where both fighters were able to showcase many skills and nearly finish the other off.
Condit def. Ellenberger via split decision.
Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta showed us that Huerta probably should’ve spent some more time training instead of pretending to be an actor. He never gave up, but he didn’t do enough.
Maynard def. Huerta via decision.
Nate Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard was a fun fight to cap off a night of back and forth action. Guillard had the upper hand in the first round, opening up a nice cut on Diaz, but he fell in the second round and basically gave up.
Diaz def. Guillard via submission in round 2.

What a fun night of fights. A “sloppy slugfest.” Perfect descrition. While Tim looked crisper than i had seen before, still not exactly razor sharp. Both guys showed great heart, and it was a fun fight to watch, even if not a top-level example of the “art” in mixed martial arts.
Condit continues to be a a favortie of mine, though I have to admit, I am not quite as impressed with him as I thought I would be in the UFC. I like the guy, love watching him fight, and hope he can make a run in the division…we’ll see.
Can’t wait to see who gets FON.
You had to love stupid Guillard for getting caught acting like a fool! He was winning the stand up battle and pulls that?! All that talent and yet it shows he has no ground game at all!
