Hawaiian MMA fighter arrested for murdering teen
By Brandt DeLorenzo on Sep 14, 2009
A Honolulu newspaper has been releasing news of a local MMA fighter who was recently arrested for strangling an 18 year old girl and leaving her body in an alley. The suspect, 29 year old Corbit Ahn, was a MMA fighter who was preparing for an upcoming bout in the near future.
A professional record for Ahn was listed at 0-1-0 on the MMA.tv Official Fighter Search.
Here’s what the newspaper had to say about Ahn:
Neighbors were shocked when police stormed up a stairwell to the fourth-floor apartment where Ahn was arrested. They said he had only lived there about six months and never given anyone any trouble.
Those who knew him say he lived with his wife and children in the corner unit on the top floor of the Maikiki Palms apartments.
They said they would see him taking his children out on excursions.
A neighbor said Ahn was training for an upcoming mixed-martial arts fight in October.
This story follows the news of a 19 year old man in New Freedom, Pennsylvania who was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison after strangling his friend to death in a sleeper hold while they were wrestling.
Both stories have been likened to Mixed Martial Arts and the use of chokes to render an opponent unconscious by stopping the flow of blood to the brain. Fortunately, even with the terrible news of these murders, the backlash against MMA and “human cock fighting” has seemed to calm over the past year with the mainstream success of the UFC and fan education of MMA rules during sanctioned bouts.

At 0-1, I’d hardly call the guy a professional fighter.
I do wish all the best to the family and friends of the victim, and hope that they find some peace.
