Forrest Griffin and The Sudden Hate Parade

By Curtis Clontz on Aug 10, 2009

silva.jpgNever has one fell from grace so fast…  Forrest Griffin went from being one of the most popular fighters in the world to rock bottom.  He went from title holder to dumpster diver.  He will never fight again, never throw a punch, or even put on a set of gloves?  He will never smile again, his family hates him, and he should probably get a job application for Wal-Mart…  Wait, what? Why are so many people selling crazy in reference to Forrest?

Check out these comments from Forrest’s very own website…

“I have lost all respect for you Forrest. You ran like a little kid running home after being beat up. A true competitor would have taken the lose like a man and gave Silva his due respect. I hope the UFC dumps you worse than Silva did!”

“Forrest good sportsmanship.. you’re washed up bro!”

“Forrest I have followed your career since season 1 of the Ultimate Fighter. When you were interviewed a few months back and said you had a contingency plan for everything, I have been your biggest fan. I guess you had no contingency plan for a fixed fight. HUH? I guess in retrospect you did have a contingency plan. It was to run out of the cage with your entire crew with your tail tucked firmly behind Dana White’s butt cheeks. Got fight? Apparently not.”

“Who have you been training with? The French Army?? I haven’t seen as decisive a beatdown or as swift a retreat since WW II. According to your book, its all about being tough. I guess the book tour softened you up, or maybe it was all talk. One Silva right hand, backpedalling! And you start flopping like a catfish on the dock. Then its “Run, Forrest, run!” Back to the locker room. Weak. Way to show up.”
These are not all of the negative comments either.  There are tons more just like this and worse.  One even said something to the extent of (and I am paraphrasing) Forrest Got Fight?  NOPE.

It is pretty funny that people are hating on him like this.  We still haven’t heard from the UFC or Forrest about the loss.  It has not been confirmed that he truly did suffer an injury (other than a broken heart), and we don’t know the whole story.

In time someone will speak, then we can make our decisions of the situation.  If he really did run from the cage just because he was upset, well that is pretty sad.  Take the loss like Rampage did against you…Forrest whooped my @$$.

There is no shame in losing to the best fighter in the world (it is no longer arguably).  Silva looked like a machine.  Everyone is saying the fight was rigged and that Forrest didn’t fight back.  Forrest tried, Silva just makes great fighters look bad.

Nobody should be embarrassed to lose to Anderson Silva. The guy has great hands and will knock out a lot of guys until he stops fighting. I do want to see Anderson box someone who’s up there to truly determine if he has the skills to box with the big names.

“It is pretty funny that people are hating on him like this.”

No, actually it’s not funny that cowards are making disparaging comments on websites. The bottom-line is that Forrest is a good fighter who has more than his share of human courage. Just being willing to fight guys like Rampage, Shogun, and Anderson more than proves it. If Forrest wants to bail out of the arena after a disappointing loss, then that’s his business. No fan with an ounce of common sense who has faced like challenges would berate Forrest because of what he does immediately after a tough loss. The haters are 13-year-old kids who will never amount to anything when they grow up. They are true pieces of **** for overreacting to Forrest’s understandable lack of grace after a very tough loss.

Forrest will be back and will fight again. The Internet haters will eventually face something real in life that will test their own mettle, and every one of these cowardly asshats will fold under that pressure. Being judgmental, vindictive ******* in response to a fighter’s tough moments just shows their own extreme weakness.

To hell with all the haters and to you guys to for saying his career is over and he is washed up…not to long ago people were talking shit about Anderson because hes to smart to throw his face in the path of a fist….man. The web is full of this shit about anybody that loses..newsflash. Some one losses every fight. So what he left the ring. He fought till the end did he not? Fixed….wtf does that mean? If you saw the same fight I did the only fixed thing about it was that A Silva is a bad ass. The truth is any one talking shit most likely lives with there parents and sit there asses behind the internet all day absorbing more bullshit claiming to know something when all they really know is what they see on the web. Punk ass pussy bitches should stfu..

All you haters will get yours. Just like the guy fred above me said.

Forrest loves this sport more than any other competitor. He was heart broken and the last time he showed his emotions after a loss (Jardine) he was vilified. Give the guy a break already.

Reports surfaced on Sunday that Griffin had suffered a jaw injury and that was the reason for his hasty exit, but MMAWeekly.com was able to confirm with representatives from Zinkin Entertainment, Griffin’s management group, that he is physically fine following the Saturday night fight.

The fans on the message boards are funny and fickle at best, but this is the part of the fight game. If he comes back and (T)KO’s his next opponent . . . he will get major love.

    Forrest Got Fight? NOPE.
    (that’s kind of funny)

Run Forrest Gump Run, also made me laugh.

There are a number of funny Forrest gifs out there.
    There’s a rape scene in a shower.
    The Gump photo.
The numerous gifs from the actual fight that look scary and funny.

    WHAT?

‘Take the loss like Rampage did against you… Forrest whooped my @$$.’

How well did Rampage take his loss to Forrest? He went insane and went on a high speed chase killing an unborn child.

I’d say running from the arena is pretty good compared to that.

  9. VEe says:

I like Rampage but he’s far from a great sportsman. He still makes excuses for the Griffin, 2 Wanderlei-Pride fights and his Shogun fight. He say he got his ass whupped, but then in the same breath make excuses.
He’s probably way more emotional than Griffin . . . who knows?

rampage’s “rage” was the result of no sleep and energy drinks. It had as much to do with Ybarra than it did the loss.

The difference is, once it happened Rampage stood up and said he got beat. A lot of his crying was his management team. He does whine a little bit, but that is him just playing into the part.

Man i live in the netherlands and have been watching UFC Pride FC and vale tudo and such sinds 1990.
I always liked forrest because he claims he is no quiter and has a ton of hart.
Now i think that in the fight with Evans you just gave UP.
Just like your last fight you gave UP.
    Man i can’t fight,never trained.
But put me in the Cage with Anderson Silva and i will never quit.He must punch me KO or break my arm..
Forrest your just weak, no mentalaty bah LOOSER

Mister kl, for someone who admits he can’t fight, you make alot of assumptions about how you’d do against Anderson. Frankly, you’d probably sh*t your pants and pass out when you saw him standing across the cage from you.

As for Forrest being weak, you just make yourself sound like a stuck up, bandwagon jumping douchebag.
