MMA Randomness on recent happenings

By Curtis Clontz on Jul 31, 2009

WOW, what an incredible week it has been for the world of MMA.  In my look back at the week that was, I laugh in many ways.  In this edition I drop dimes on Forrest, Josh B., Fedor,Tito, and Affliction.

Forrest Griffin:

Will do anything for the sport of MMA, except give up coffee.  Sorry ladies you are expendable.  Forrest also said that he wants to drink Lyoto Machida’s magic pee!

Josh Barnett:

Who knew peeing in a cup could take you from #3 in the world to laughing stock of the entire MMA world!  Then after he said that he didn’t take ‘roids, his second test popped…  Trouble!  Go back to Japan, take your steroids, and become a pro wrestler.

Fedor:

If it barks like a dog, and walks like a dog…  The Fedor sweepstakes promised to bring him to America time and time again.  I am glad that we haven’t been holding our breath!  I will remind you, rumors are rumors…I wont believe Fedor is fighting in the UFC until he steps into the cage ready to fight!

Affliction:

Good job, at least you gave it the ol’ college try.  I mean, did you really think you could pay fighters a gazzillion dollars and stay afloat?  Especially when people may or may not buy your PPVs.  The positive side, is that your brand is now larger and you are going to sell a lot more T-shirts!  in hind sight the move to fold now may be the best thing you’ve ever did.

Tito:

Heyyyyy, welcome back big guy.  Speaking of back, I hope yours is good!  The fans want to see youfight like the old Tito, not like the new Chuck…

I could go on but I will leave it at this, and save some content for a future post.  As a reminder our UFC 101 coverage will kick off next week, you are not going to wanna miss anything!

Although I disagree that at this point Barnett is even #3, I appreciate you not ranking him at #2.

I just read that UFC 100 did 1.72 million PPV buys. I think that basically sums up my thoughts on Fedor not signing with the UFC.

A 5-round fight between Cheeto and Lyoto actually excites me. I find that odd as I am not a huge fan of either, but for some reason, looking back on their first fight, I think seeing an extra 2 rounds would be great.

Good take curtis. It has been an awesome week in MMA. Love Tito and Vitor Belfort back with the UFC, If Vitor contiues to stay into everything and looks like he did against Matt Linland at Affliction he could make some serious noise at MW and LHW. Was never a huge fan of Tito, but respect him big time. When hes healthy, hes one of the top 205ers in the world. Like he said in his last three fights he beat a former champ in Forrest. Without a point deduction beat another in Rashad, and almost caught current unbeatable champ Machida in a triangle. As far as Fedors concerned a big fan of his. I think hes unbelievable. But I am getting really frustrated with his decisions. What is M1 thinking? Why in the hell would the UFC wanna co-promote with anyone?! There not gonna be able to co-promote with anyone, and make the money the UFC would pay him anyway! Besides Barnett theres not a fight Id pay to watch him in, and I consider myself a big fan. Whos he gonna fight, Brett Rogers? Jeff Monson? Arlovski again? I mean seriously. Well sorry for the long reply haha! Keep up the good work man. Hopefully I can get with you and Kyle sometime and see if I can help contribute to the hard work!
