The Juggernaut Chronicles: Post UFC 100 edition
By Curtis Clontz on Jul 13, 2009
Our neighborhood Juggernaut is back with us for his weekly blog. This time around he talks about UFC 100, good vs. evil, and his upcoming training at the Militech Camp!
Here is what Antwain had to say this week…
Antwain: Man, what a weekend in MMA. I would say that UFC 100 delivered! Ups and downs, good vs. evil, and story book endings. Has MMA gotten to the point where we can look to it and compare those fights to the battles that we are having in our own lives? Sort of like the feeling you felt when Jordan hit the game winner in the series or Brett Farve came back to win with a minute left. UFC 100 gave you all of those things and more.
We had the underdog story come to life when Akiyama beat Belcher in one of the earlier fights. Belcher looked like he never got into a rhythm in this fight. Akiyama did a great job of controlling the fight. Duke Roufus looked dumb yelling like a fool after the fight, but of course it didn’t change anything.
Then you hand Coleman vs. Bonner. This fight could have been scripted folks. The over the hill ex-champ vs. the younger, stronger fighter and pull out the win ( even if it wasn’t the prettiest display) You have to love that. I almost shed a tear.
We have Hendo vs. Bisping. The cocky Brit vs. the quiet, confident American. The guy who ran his mouth the entire season of The Ultimate Fighter quickly had it wired shut with a right-cross from the former Olympian. Made for great T.V guys.
Everyone’s favorite hero GSP shut down the up and coming stud in Thiago Alves. It was a good fight, but GSP controlled the entire brawl. A lot of folks called Thiago in this fight, so to see GSP pull it out did something for the hearts of MMA fans everywhere.
Then we have the classic good vs. evil in Lesner vs. Mir. I guess evil has to win sometime because Mir took a beating in the 2nd round. I felt bad for Frank, and not because he lost, because we all lose, but because of the dumbass show that Lesner put on after the fight. I get it. Brocks the heel. THIS IS NOT PRO WRESTLING. These are two guys who trained hard to put on a show for the fans. Two guys who love what they do because it is where their hearts are, not to boost rating and attendance by acting like a tool. Save it for the Soaps Brock. Let your talent speak for you in the cage, leave the rest of that shit for magazine interviews bud.
Ok guys, I’m out. I’m going to train at Miletich camp. I’ll let you know what happened when I get back. It should be fun. Pat has been trying to get me out there for awhile so it should be good training with Rothwell. While I am gone go and checkout this new info and video on The Green Gi. Go green folks, trust me this earth needs it!!
Peace

Antwain, I trained with Pat a couple days while he was here in VA beach. He’s one of my favorite fighters of all time. Am I the only one who though Alan Belcher got robbed?
No, a lot people did, Pat Miletich thought Alan did.
