Frank Lester Released by the UFC
By Josh Stein on Jun 25, 2009
Frankie “Four Teeth” Lester (3-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was released from his UFC contract following his rear naked choke loss to Nick Osipczak (4-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC).
Lester may have been one of the few parts of this TUF season that I enjoyed, coming back from a loss to James Wilks (6-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC), in which he lost a tooth (he was missing four already) to fight and defeat Dave “The Gagmeister” Faulkner (2-1 MMA) and make the semis. He lost to Wilks again in the semis, and the Brit Wilks went on to defeat Demarques Johnson (9-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and win the welterweight bracket.
Lester will probably still have a career outside of the UFC, given his ability to move up weightclasses (Lester has fought at 185 and 205 in the past) and because of his general willingness to fight anyone, anywhere, but as Lester is not an incredible technical talent, the chance that we’re going to see him in the UFC in the near future is pretty low.
