Book Review: Got Fight? by Forrest Griffin

By Brandt DeLorenzo on Jun 25, 2009

forrest_griffin_book_coverI could go against every other review that I’ve ever done and just tell you that this book is 100% pure ridiculous. But, then I’d have to clarify exactly what I mean when I said ‘ridiculous’ and I would probably spend the same amount of time telling you all about Forrest Griffin’s latest escapade; a book he wrote called Got Fight?.

We know, Got Fight…Got Milk. Even Griffin has a something to tell you about the title – he didn’t want it. Instead, he wanted to use “Who Moved My nose?” or “Death is a Journey and My Bags Are Packed – The Forrest Griffin Story”. Luckily his publishers prevailed or else we would have seen a much different title under Griffin’s goofy black and white face that graces the cover.

At 170 pages, and filled with a mix of useful information and funny quips about life, fighting, and locating posers in the MMA scene, Got Fight? is a great short read that’s sure to make 99% of MMA fans laugh at loud. Not just “lol”, but more of the “LMAO” type. Here’s a quote to give you a little idea of what to expect when you run off to Barnes and Nobles to grab this gem (or you can help support the site and buy it from our MMA store – it’s cheaper, promise) and learn how to dress from Mr. Griffin himself.

The first rule is not to dress like your friends. When chicks do it, it’s cute. When guys do it, it’s just wrong. But if you hang out with guys who are into the same shit as you, this can sometimes be difficult to manage. For example, when I was a cop I noticed that all cops wear pretty much the same thing when off duty. They wear jeans, combat boots, and really tacky flannel shirts or black T-shirts that they tuck in – jelly belly optional. And let’s assume all your friends are fighters – or wannabe fighters – the last thing you want is to all roll into the club in match Affliction T-shirts.

See that? Simple, yet effective advice. I won’t go into what he thinks of Affliction T-shirts, you’ll have to read for yourself. But if you’re looking for a funny book that will help you score some chicks, make some friends, or keep the few that you already have, pick up a copy of Got Fight? today and become the next goofy, lanky, ex-cop turned UFC ex-light heavyweight champion. It’s almost that easy.
