Mousasi vs. Sobral at Affliction: Trilogy
By Brandt DeLorenzo on Jun 01, 2009
M-1 Global is reporting that Gegard Mousasi will be set to fight against ousted UFC fighter, Renato “Babalu” Sobral at Affliction: Trilogy this summer.
Vitor Belfort was expect to fight Mousasi at a catchweight closer to light heavyweight, but Belfort refused to fight above middleweight and claimed that Mousasi was not a challenge to him. Mousasi said he was unable to fight at any weight under 205 and even vacated his Dream Middleweight belt to move up to light heavyweight.
Sobral was last seen beating Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at Affliction 2: Day of Reckoning earlier this year. Mousasi defeated Mark Hunt during the Super Hunk Tournament to chalk up his 12th consecutive win.
Although the bout has not be officially announced, Affliction CEO Tom Atencio is set to discuss the fight on Wednesday.
