Fighters are clean, UFC 98 edition
By Curtis Clontz on Jun 01, 2009
The tests are back and all of the fighters from UFC 98 have tested negative for banned substances. The post-fight tests was completed on May 23rd and the results were recently released. In great news for the UFC, no fighter has currently tested positive for a steroid substance this year.
Bob Sapp, Stephan Bonnar, and Jose Conseco (haha) are three specific MMA athletes that have had their share of problems with roids.
This time around they tested ten fighters. The new champ Lyoto Machida, old champ Rashad Evans, legend Matt Hughes, and seven others all tested clean after their fights.
Many feel that there is a steroid problem in all sports, not just MMA. It is a sad world when Congress has to take time away from dealing with education and the issues of our country and question athletes. I hope MMA never gets to that point, but if it does that means we have made it main stream for sure… I guess it is a double edge sword.
On a side note, Karo Parisyan is the only UFC fighter that has been suspended this year for failing to pass a test.
