Affliction 3 won’t suck now! Fedor and Barnett Verbally Agree to Fight
By Garrett Bailey on May 21, 2009

Affliction will not be going head to head with UFC 100 with a new rumored date of August 1st for their third show. Fedor and Josh Barnett has finally stopped being buddies for the moment and rumors are that they finally verbally agreed to fight each other.
This has taken a lot longer than it probably should have, with about 300 different rumors on who Fedor is going to fight, the actual day of Affliction 3, and a new rumor I just made up that Tom Atencio only is bald so he can be a little more like Dana White. The only regret Tom has is that he doesn’t have a chicks name like the UFC President.
Vitor Belfort and Gegard Mousasi are also rumored to be fighting each other along with a possible match up of fan favorite Tim Sylvia vs eye gouger and referee punchin’ Gilbert Yvel. Or possibly it could be Big Timmy facing Baby Fedor killer Paul Buentello.

Yeah, contrary to popular belief, both guys really want to fight each other. Barnett thinks his skills give him a legit shot at stopping Fedor and Fedor wants to fight the best. Should make for a great fight.
The Fedor/Barnett fight has been being talked about enough for me so I’m going to talk about the other possible fights you mentioned.
I like the Belfort/Mousasi match-up. I think that will be a good fight.
Not even joking about this. Honestly the most intriguing fight to me would be the Gilbert Yvel vs. Tim Sylvia fight. I was happy before with the rumors of a Buentello/Sylvia fight but a Yvel/Sylvia fight is even more exciting to me. I had a certain preconceived notion on who Yvel was by his actions in previous fights but with that fight against Barnett he changed my mind a little bit. I came away with some respect for him. I am looking forward to seeing him fight again.
all yvel did was get laid on and pounded on…sure he didn’t get finished but other than that i don’t remember him doing anything.
i still haven’t seen much video on gegard…he looks good though and vitor looks like he doesn’t suck anymore, which is nice
Yea Yvel got mounted and pounded on for almost the full 3 rounds before it was stopped from punches but he hung in there for that long underneath arguably one of the best ground fighters in the heavyweight division. However he didn’t just lay there and cover up the whole time he was finding openings to throw punches back at Barnett from the bottom. I just had such a terrible opinion of Yvel going into that fight that I came away impressed. So I’m looking forward to seeing him against someone that I actually think he has a good shot at beating in Tim Sylvia.
i’m not impressed from someone who doesn’t know any way to espace from being mounted. elbow espace, trap and roll…was he trying any of those things? but in a fight with tim he won’t have to worry, it will be a standup fight, and that’s why they are booking him or paul.
