The New Mexico MMA Ban is Dead
By Josh Stein on Mar 25, 2009
According to Arizona Combat Sports, Senate Bill 688 has died (and may it stay that way).
The attempt by New Mexico Senator Tim Jennings (D-32) and whoever else was involved in its forming are, by all appearances over.
I’m not sure why, so I’ll wait for an autopsy before I start reporting on anything, but I have a suspicion that there was an infestation of common sense somewhere in Congress that got to this bill and destroyed it.
This is certainly good news for those of us who enjoy the sport. Hopefully we will, at some point, have some similar news from New York. Obviously, that won’t be soon, as it’s a matter of getting a bill passed and not just shooting one down.
Still, it’s a big win for the sport.
