Black on Black Crime: Rampage vs Rashad Evans for UFC 98?

By Garrett Bailey on Mar 09, 2009

White dude instigates black on black crime

“There’s going to be more black on black crime!” And a microphone slam later that concluded UFC 96.

Rampage beat Keith Sardine Jardine by unanimous decision, almost by technical knockout if there was another 30 seconds in the 3rd round. The UFC brought Rashad Evans in during the main event to do something, I’m not sure what. All he did standing next to Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg was say that Jardine has Rampage right where he wants him, even though Jardine was getting knocked down and rocked what seemed to be every exchange. But other than Rashad getting a little more insight into Rampage’s game plan, he was there to hype up a fight with Rampage.

Rashad and Rampage promised each other they were going to knock each other out right after the decision with Rashad calling Rampage a “motherfucker.” I guess Rashad was trying to trash talk?

I still don’t know why Rashad didn’t want to fight Rampage March 7. They were both on the same card at UFC 92. If Rampage is unable or feels like two months isn’t enough time to train for UFC 98 May 23, then the fight goes to Lyoto Machida. It’s a giant monkey wrench for Rampage that could have been avoided if Evans took the fight. Would have saved Jardine a beating and really make the post fight theatrics more intense and less stupid, because we all know Rampage was down to throw down and Evans was the one who backed down. This situation is like Tito Ortiz running away from Chuck Liddell, talking trash but behind closed doors refusing to fight.

If Rashad Evans really wanted to knock out Rampage, why did he wait? To get more tape on Rampage? He seemed pissed that Jardine was beat, and now for sure he’s going to use that in the pre-fight interviews to further hype his fight against Rampage; if Rampage agrees to fight so soon again. In this case I want to see some black on black crime, as promised by Rampage.

All I can say is I hope Rashad don’t get mad when Rampage says 2 months isn’t good enough for him….

yeah. shad’s totally stupid for wanting to fight rampage now. it doesn’t make sense for him to not want to fight march 7 but expects rampage to fight in 2 months.

Give Machida the shot! First undefeated vs. undefeated. Second give Rampage time to get on the Zoloffot whatever and not go driving through London in a Mini-Cooper with his face painted on it! And that is probably why the whole Jardine thing went down, Jackson’s camp probably figured Jardine would inflict some damage and Rampage would still take an early fight, even a little banged up.

machida is more than deserving…my point was, if i had a point, was that a rampage fight with rashad could have already happened, if rashad took the fight at 96…so he’s trash talking to rampage about knocking him out, when he already passed on the opportunity too…what was the reason he didn’t want to fight rampage at 96? i haven’t heard a good reason…hopefully machida can beat rashad…
