Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thomson rematch possible on April 11th
By Ryan Bartlett on Feb 24, 2009

FiveouncesofPain.com is reporting that Strikeforce is expected to announce a rematch between Josh Thomson and Gilbert Melendez, for April 11th event.
With plans to secure separate opponents for Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson and the promotion’s former 155 pound king Gilbert Melendez apparently having following through, sources have informed FiveOuncesOfPain.com that Strikeforce officials could be set to announce in the coming days that the two will rematch each other on April 11 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.
A source close to the bout informed us of the news earlier today but voice mail and text messages left for Strikeforce officials requesting comment about the matchup were not immediately returned.
This fight will be added to an already amazing card featuring:
Main Event: Frank Shamrock vs Nick Diaz
Jake Shields vs Joe Riggs
Benji Radach vs Scott Smith
and Christine “Cyborg” Santos vs an unnamed opponent
This card is really starting to approve daily. At first I wasn’t sure about the main event, but the last week this card has really started to look impressive. Scott Coker is definitely making sure to provide fans with great match-ups.
