From American Top Team on the MixedMartialArts.com Underground forum:
Congrats to Jeff for winning Gold at the FILA World Grappling Championship in Lucerne, Switzerland!
Jeff defeated Brandon Ruiz in the finals 6-1 to capture the gold medal. This is the second time Jeff has won. He previously won the Gold at the World Championship in Turkey in 2007.
Pretty amazing feat considering Jeff just came off an MMA win over Ricco Rodriguez a week prior where he broke his hand. It swelled up considerably the next day, but Jeff said there was no way he would not compete.
Congrats to one of the best competitors in the game today!
Congrats to the rest of Team USA as they swept the competition all winnning Gold!
Matt Sanchez
Ricky Lundell
Jacob Volkmann
Raphael Davis
Jeff MonsonAnd on the womens side Lisa Ward won Gold while Felicia Oh, Molly Helsel, and Meisha Tate won Silver.
Outstanding job by all the athletes!
