Bid for the Next TUF Coach: Dan Henderson
By Curtis Clontz on Dec 23, 2008
In the second installment of Bid for the Next TUF Coach, we will look at the reasons why “Hollywood” Dan Henderson should be the coach to represent the American’s on the upcoming season of The Ultimate fighter. Taping will begin soon and the UFC has said that the next coach will be the winner of the Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin fight.
Dan Henderson was one of the most storied fighters in the old school Pride FC. He is still the only man to hold 2 belts for that organization. Hendo was often times considered one of the favorite American fighters, and frankly was one of the best they had. His surprise win over Wanderlei Silva was a huge moment for the sport. Since coming to the UFC he hasn’t been able to reproduce the same spectacular type of wins. He has suffered 2 losses and has only managed 1 very unimpressive win. Although he has two losses they were to Anderson Silva and Rampage Jackson. His lone win in the cage was a decision victory versus Rousimar Palhares. The fight against Rich Franklin will provide Henderson with a perfect opportunity to prove his worth, and him self. Another loss could put him in a bad position with the UFC’s top guys
It is no question that Dan would have no problem coaching the TUF kids and adding a helping hand as they start their MMA careers. He is one of the best 185 and 205 pound fighters in the world. It would be interesting to see how he is able to push his well rounded skills to the young fighters. Dan has been around the world but a win against Ace would put him in a position he has never been… TUF coach.

I hope Hendo gets the coaching job, Rich has already done it and I was not impressed. Hendo is a Greco protege of Randy Couture and I would love to see him work with those guys. Plus I think Hendo would murder Bisping in the cage so it’s another fight I’d love to see.
Bisping vs. Henderson would certainly be a fun fight. I like Rich Franklin, but he’s coming off way too much as a babyface (not his fault, he’s just a nice guy!) and Henderson isn’t quite a face or a heel yet. It’s more exciting when it’s semi-heel vs. bona fide heel.
This is the case of good guy versus good guy…lol No bad guys here
