MMA Legend Ken Shamrock to Return Feb. 13
By musiclover on Dec 16, 2008
“The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Ken Shamrock, 44, will make his return the mixed martial arts (MMA) scene during the “Wargods KSP: Valentine’s Eve Massacre” event on Feb. 13 in Fresno, Calif.
The co-promoted event between Ken Shamrock Productions and Wargods will feature the likes of Shamrock, Mike Moreno, Tonya Evinger, Isaac De Jesus, Jennifer Tate, Wargods’ HW champion Lavar Johnson, and current Gladiator Challenge HW champion Buddy Roberts. Ken Shamrock’s son, Ryan Shamrock, will also fight on the upcoming card.
The elder Shamrock’s opponent has not been named, and it’s unknown if he’ll fight at light heavyweight or heavyweight.
This will mark the first return to fighting for Shamrock since a lackluster performance against Robert “Buzz” Berry during Cage Rage 25 in March. Shamrock was expected to fight Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson during EliteXC’s event on Oct. 4, but the Florida athletic comission didn’t clear him due to a facial laceration.
Shamrock (26-13-2) has lost six of his last seven fights, including two pummelings courtesy of Tito Ortiz, and a TKO loss to former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin. Shamrock’s only victory in the last four years was a KO stoppage of Kimo Leopoldo during UFC 48 in 2004.
Many MMA fans have called for Shamrock to retire while he’s still known as an MMA legend, which would also allow him to avoid further tarnishing his legacy. However, it seems Shamrock has a couple of fights left in him, including a possible fight with half-brother Frank Shamrock, a fight that could take place sometime in 2009.

This promotion should be great. Since I live in Fresno, I’ll be covering it in some form or fashion, as well as doing interviews with many of the fighters on the card.
See if you can ask the world’s most dangerous OLD man what he thinks about the UFC Hall of Fame and if thinks he has done enough in his career to be the 6th person inducted?
ok bad joke…lol
I am curious what he thinks about the Hall and if he thinks of his induction into it was a milestone in his life or not.
On a serious note, I would like for him to get a win. He should go out on top! He did so much for the sport in the early days.
As much as I think Ken needs to hang the gloves up, I want to see him get one final win. Win or lose, I highly doubt he’s going to retire, so be prepared to watch him fight again after February.
Yeah, he’s fallen apart, but he’s a great fighter and I have a lot of respect for him, so it’ll be interesting to see how he feels about his slide too.
Ken should retire. I think his heart and mind say he can continue…but…he is just not the fighter he once was as age has caught up to him IMHO.
He should fight the training partner that cut his eye and kept him out of the Kimbo fight…lol.
Seriously, hope he gets a win and goes into promotions and stays out of the cage before he really gets hurt.
