Catching up with Evan Tanner
By Brandt DeLorenzo on Aug 13, 2008
It’s been a little while since we heard anything about Evan Tanner in any MMA news, but it looks like he is still having a good time and enjoying life. In his latest SpikeTV blog, Tanner talks about surfing with his friend and his memories with a surfboard. It’s interesting to read about a professional MMA fighter who is practically living off the land with his motorcycle. Here’s a little blurb from his blog. Check it out here.
My friend Jorge and went out and caught a few waves this afternoon. Getting the boards waxed up here. There’s a long story behind my board. I picked it up in North Carolina when I was there framing beach houses. I took it with me to Illinois where I helped build a seed and grain processing plant, from there to Bozeman Montana, where I worked concrete, then Big Sky where I worked a night security at the ski resort. It’s been all over with me, so many places I’ve lost count. I always carried it with me in the back of my truck or van, on my travels, all over the middle of the continent, through deserts, forests, mountains, and grasslands, thinking that someday I would make it back to one of the coasts and be able to surf again.
I’ve always enjoyed reading Tanner’s blog posts as they are always so genuine and interesting. I feel like I’ve known the guy for years after reading all of his blogs on the web. I hope we see him back in the cage and back to his winning ways again soon!

Glad to hear that Evan’s doing well. I know he had alot of issues, but he’s a great guy, and I’m happy that he’s enjoying life.
