The Ultimate Fighter 8 Cast Rumors

By Brandt DeLorenzo on Jul 30, 2008

We haven’t heard a lot about rumors regarding The Ultimate Fighter 8 online aside from a few message board posts which is somewhat surprising. The tryouts for TUF 8 were held back on April 10th at the Boston Sheraton Hotel while local news crews and MMA blogs covered the event. The show is set to feature Frank Mir and UFC Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira as coaches with both lightweight and heavyweight fighters on the roster. Let’s see who is supposedly on the show.

Lightweights:
Dave Kaplan, Charles Diaz, Phillipe Nover, Roli Delgado, Wesley Murch, Spencer Paige, Danny Martinez, Joe Duarte, Allen Browning, Efrain Escudero, Shane Nelson, Jason MacKay, George Roop

Heavyweights:
Krzysztof Soszynski, Ryan Bader, Glover Teixeira, Jesse Veium, Eliot Marshall, Vinicius Magalhaes, Lance Evans, Jason Brilz, Ryan Jimmo, Antwain Britt, Shane Primm, Kyle Kingsbury, Tom Lawlor

I don’t understand why they didn’t do a 16 man heavyweight season. The division needs the talent so badly that it doesn’t make sense to add the lightweights in. I know that the 155 pounders are more exciting than the big men a lot of the time, but there are enough big men out there to fill a TUF roster and the boost in personalities would make for a serious improvement in the quality of and interest in the division.

Did you hear Frank Mir say that the heavyweight division was a tough and deep one?

    RIDICULOUS!!

I agree, but I think the UFC could have been worried that it would provide a boring slow show that would deter viewers from watching, plus they have to worry about guys dropping.

I don’t have the same worry. The guys on the show are usually incredibly aggressive, because they only have the two rounds. I just wish they were picking up substantial prospects. I like Soszynski, and Teixeira is the guy who beat Sokoudjou. I just have that long list of guys that they could have gotten on this show.

I don’t operate under the premise that the world is having a heavyweight shortage, and I feel like the UFC is doing that.

I can’t say who but I already know the outcome of one of the fighters…. I can promise that out of the fighters in this season there is some real talent and some guys that we will hear from for awhile to come!!!!

Ryan Jimmo is from my hometown, and I have also heard he was on the tuf 8 cast.

Hey I was on the UFc tryouts but as you seen on the trailer I was knocked out cold. I should have fought in the lightheavyweight not heavyweight. My first fight was against Adam Braidfoot and he also knocked me silly so Dana please give me another chance in the lightheavyweight division

    Ryan,
Interested in doing an interview about yourself and the whole TUF experience you had through your eyes and who your favorite is this season?
