Horodecki and Palaszewski bring Excitement to the IFL
By Brandt DeLorenzo on Oct 01, 2007
It’s no secret that nearly everyone puts the International Fight League behind the UFC and even other smaller fight organizations like BodogFight or EliteXC. So of course everyone safely assumes that IFL fighters may not be within the Top 10 of their respective weight classes. For many fighters this may be true and the IFL could certainly be considered part of the “minor leagues” of mainstream MMA, but you can’t count out all of the fighters. Some of these more well known lightweights include kickboxer Chris Horodecki and stand-up fighter Bart Palaszewski. Not only do both young fighters post impressive MMA stats, they both immigrated from Poland and are both slated to fight at the IFL World Grand Prix Semifinals in Chicago on November 3rd.
This won’t be the first time that these talented 155′ers have met though. Earlier this year in Houston, Horodecki barely edged by the older and more experienced Palaszewski with a split decision win. The rematch is 7 months in the making as Horodecki also squeezed by Josh Odom and Shad Lierly with two more decision wins in March and June. Palaszewski went on to gain the approval of the judges over John Gunderson while finishing off John Strawn and Harris Sermiento on his own terms. He most recently came off a loss at the hands of IFL newcomer Deividas Taurosevicius at the IFL Team Championship Finals.
They may only be lightweights, but neither fighter will take the other lightly. Chris Horodecki may still be undefeated, but he is well aware that Bart Palaszewski could be the first fighter to quickly knock him out if his kicks don’t keep the older fighter at bay. Palaszewski is hungry for a win after his disappointing loss on September 20th and will be looking to score quickly. This should be a fight to go down in the IFL history books if both men perform an encore of their last fight. This live fight can also help assist with putting the IFL in the minds of more MMA loving fans who have yet to see a live production. As far as my prediction, I think Palaszewski can take this fight if he watches the kicks, but at this point, I can see the fight going either way. Watch the IFL live on November 3rd at 7PM CST on MyNetworkTV.
