Even More Rampage: Pregnant woman injured

A disturbing new twist in the ongoing saga of Quinton Jackson’s troubles. A new report out today claims that a pregnant woman and her unborn child were injured by Jackson during his Tuesday car smashing spree throughout Orange County. The local Newport Beach & Costa Mesa Daily Pilot has the details-

Holli Griggs, 38, was driving her 2007 Cadillac Escalade in the left lane on the southbound 55 freeway just south of Bay Street when Jackson’s gray-and-green monster truck sideswiped her as it continued down the freeway at 45 mph, California Highway Patrol officer Jennifer Hink said. The freeway turns into Newport Boulevard just south of there and is typically clogged with traffic at about the time of the accident, 1:30 p.m.

Jackson could face felony charges of a hit and run because Griggs was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, Hink said. In an e-mail sent to the Daily Pilot, Griggs said she and her unborn baby, 16 and a half weeks along, were injured but was not sure to what extent.

This is another big blow to Jackson, as per California law if there’s an injured person as a result of a hit and run it is categorized as a felony. On the other hand, if nobody had been hurt during the incident the resulting charge would only be a misdemeanor. While currently the only charges filed against Jackson are just for felony evasion, and if injuries have occurred, Rampage could be facing another serious charge of felony hit and run in addition to allegations he’s already facing.

Jail time on the felony evasion charge carries a sentence of 6 months to a year. And another felony in addition to that would obvious extend a jail sentence if convicted. But fortunately and unfortunately for Quinton is that he looks to have a good shot at a plee agreement considering the question of his current emotional health and his recent hospitalization to address that condition. We’ll look to update the story if any additional charges are filed within the next few days.

Wow…it seems to keep getting worse and worse for Page…

ya, but like I said it may be a bad thing but it’s good for him that he does seem to have a excuse with his medical situation.

and if he gets his lawyers curtosy of the UFC, he should have very little probelm making his case flanked by probably some of the best lawyers in the western states.

my greatest concern is for Rampage’s well being. I hope the UFC and the people around Rampage have enough sense to keep a good eye on him and make sure he gets the help he needs.

There has been some speculation that Jackson had purposely acted strange in order to use some sort of insanity defense. Who knows if that is anywhere near the truth or if it would even work.

It seems too big to be a publicity stunt. I could see something like being a big episode of that ridiculously dumb show “punkd” if he beat Griffin, but this is definitely real and extremely unfortunate for Rampage.

What confuses me is that he lost before, a few times, and we didn’t hear much about him. Perhaps with him being in Japan, and far away from the U.S. tabloids, he was able to act out and get away with it.

From knowing and visiting someone in a hospital’s mental evaluation ward, its definately not the kind of place you’d ever want to be if you didn’t have to. I mean like even to escape charges, unless they like were murder or something, you’d be better off playing it sane.

I’ve seen an interview with Rampage the day before this tragedy. Rampage was out of it. He sounded and looked like he was sick or on some kind of wacky medication. Rampage is an awesome guy and an awesome fighter. I used to watch him in Pride FC.

Anyway, Godwiling, Rampage will recover quickly and I hope that the pregnant woman is unharmed and in good health.

Rampage made a terrible judgment call.We all fall down it’s the manner in which we get up,that shows what we are made of.My thoughts and prayers are with the woman and her unborn child. And I think it is a positive sign that Rampage is getting some help.It lets me know that he is taking responsibilty for his actions ,and thats all any of us can do when we f.u……We want you back jackson so get it together.

rampage did not volunteerly get help, he was put into a 72 hour hold by the police who were flagged down by friends of Rampage. He is continually being held longer than the intial evaluation hold which attests to the notion that he is seriously sick and cannot be allowed to be released for his own safety.
