In only 48 hours, one of the most anticipated lightweight rematches will be taking place at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. BJ Penn will be avenging his 2002 loss to Jens Pulver as the headline event of what should be a very exciting night for many Ultimate Fighter fans. Penn promised to take the fight to the ground and physically hurt Pulver in retaliation for the Majority Decision loss in UFC 35. Both fighters have continued to show absolutely no love for each other throughout The Ultimate Fighter 5.
Also fighting, in the Ultimate Fighter 5 Championship match, will be “The Pitbull” Manny Gamburyan up against Nate Diaz. This should be an interesting fight as Gamburyan’s cousin, Karo Parisyan, attempted to antagonize Diaz in the previous episode of The Ultimate Fighter. Parisyan also defeated Nate Diaz’s older brother Nick on UFC 49 by a split judges decision. During the show, Nate Diaz admitted that he had nothing against Parisyan, yet a shouting match broke out. Parisyan later apologized to Diaz, but Gamburyan may feel the wrath of the younger Diaz throughout the fight.
Roger Huerta, a 24 year old lightweight fighter from Minneapolis, Minnesota will be taking on undefeated Doug Evans, a ground and pound wrestler fighting out of Anchorage Alaska. Huerta current holds a highly regarded 19-1-1 record in MMA while Evans has won all of his six MMA matches. If Evans can win this matchup, he may be destined for very good things in the UFC.
Also fighting in the The Ultimate Fighter Finale is:
Floyd Sword vs. Thales Leites
Brandon Melendez vs. Joe Lauzon
Andy Wang vs. Cole Miller
Rob Emerson vs. Gray Maynard
Allen Berube vs. Leonard Garcia
Brian Geraghty vs. Matt Wiman
