5: New MMA Fans - Let’s not beat around the bush here. We are all guilty of trash talking the new Chuck Liddell shirt-wearing MMA newbie. Not that there is anything wrong with Chuck Liddell, but new fan bashing has become the next big thing in MMA next to unwanted Coca-Cola sponsorships and anabolic steroid use. If you haven’t been around since the birth of Jiu-Jitsu, you’re apparently a newbie too.
4: Fake Rivalries - Apparently real rivalries aren’t as prevelant anymore. It seems that more wannabe bad-blood is appearing all over MMA than in the WWE. Are we seeing a trend towards wrestling-style entertainment? Ask Tito Ortiz; he hates everyone.
3: Ticket Prices - Maybe I’m just poor, but how am I ever going to get close enough to a live MMA fight without giving away my right arm? Even with MMA events every weekend, the prices are still high. Well, I guess I could spend $40 to sit 200 feet away from two guys in a cage. I’ll stick with my at-home viewing for now.
2: Media Disrespect - MMA is worse than dog-fighting, cock-fighting, and street-fighting. We’ve heard it all and it’s getting pretty old. We don’t want your ignorance or your rhetoric. Leave it for the Sunday Morning Bible show. We have plenty of closed-minded, over-rated mass media outlets. This includes some of you ESPN writers too.
1: Drug Use - When a Gracie gets nailed for illegal drug use, the MMA world is in trouble. Other well known fighters like Nick Diaz and Stephan Bonnar have already admitted to use, but it really just needs to end. Let the football and baseball players juice up until their arms explode. Keep MMA world above the rest of the sporting world and drop the drugs.
