As I searched through YouTube for fight clips, I was plagued by this obnoxious message telling me that I can’t watch a UFC fight on the internet anymore. It’s not like I was looking for a free streaming Pay Per View clip of UFC 72, I was merely looking for an old Stephan Bonnar fight from a few years back.

Well, UFC 72 was your mix of typical Ultimate Fighting Champtionship bouts.
It’s not that the UFC has been giving us terrible cards, it’s just that they have been throwing us the typical Pay Per Views with maybe two big-name matchups and maybe one bout where a belt could change hands. If Dana White wants to retain the claim that the UFC is the biggest name in MMA, we need more big-name fight talks and less UFC President vs. UFC Fighter trashing talking sessions. I’m more interested in hearing more about trash talking regarding Hermes Franca vs. Sean Sherk and Anderson Silva vs. Nathan Marquardt, not Tito Ortiz vs. Dana White.

It has been almost a month of training and although I am far from being comfortable on the mat, I have certainly progressed to the point where I can stay out of trouble for a little while. This is next installment of White Collar Submission. I will walk you through what it is like to train Jiu-Jitsu as a typical white collar father of two.

It’s a good day for BJ Penn.
The Hawaiian fighter who made easy work of his much-hated opponent, Jens Pulver, walked away with an estimated $100,000 from The Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale match. Moments after the win, an embrace with Pulver, and a very well spoken post-fight speech by his opponent, Penn attempted to plug his website, www.bjpenn.com, to the sold-out crowd of the Pearl at the Palms and to the millions of televised viewers. What Penn didn’t know is that his site went down on Saturday thanks to the surge of web traffic and has just returned to the online world.

Amazing things can happen when you combine money and ego. In a recent interview Dana White called Calvin Ayre a “criminal” and compared the billionaire owner of BodogFIGHT to Brewster from the movie Brewster’s Millions saying “he’s like that guy in Brewster’s Millions who is trying to spend all his money in 48 hours.” Well Mr. Ayre has fired back on his blog “Ayre Waves” making White “an offer he can’t refuse.”

Alright we’re live tonight from the Palms in Las Vegas with Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan. Obviously we’re going to open with interviews from Nate Diaz, Manny Gamburyan, BJ Penn, and Jens Pulver.
Not sure if anyone is aware of this, but Jens Pulver and BJ Penn have fought before. This has has been mentioned several times and Mike Goldberg has only been on the air for four minutes. I mean really he’s not redundant at all.
I love seeing BJ at 155. He looks so small it’s ridiculous. We should have three hours of good fights let’s see how it goes.

In only 48 hours, one of the most anticipated lightweight rematches will be taking place at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. BJ Penn will be avenging his 2002 loss to Jens Pulver as the headline event of what should be a very exciting night for many Ultimate Fighter fans. Penn promised to take the fight to the ground and physically hurt Pulver in retaliation for the Majority Decision loss in UFC 35. Both fighters have continued to show absolutely no love for each other throughout The Ultimate Fighter 5.

It’s been almost a year since light-heavyweight fighter “The American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar lost to Rashad Evans via an Unanimous Decision from the judges. Only two months later he lost again to Forrest Griffin by a Majority Decision in a rematch gone wrong for Bonnar. Very wrong.

5: New MMA Fans - Let’s not beat around the bush here. We are all guilty of trash talking the new Chuck Liddell shirt-wearing MMA newbie. Not that there is anything wrong with Chuck Liddell, but new fan bashing has become the next big thing in MMA next to unwanted Coca-Cola sponsorships and anabolic steroid use. If you haven’t been around since the birth of Jiu-Jitsu, you’re apparently a newbie too.
4: Fake Rivalries - Apparently real rivalries aren’t as prevelant anymore. It seems that more wannabe bad-blood is appearing all over MMA than in the WWE. Are we seeing a trend towards wrestling-style entertainment? Ask Tito Ortiz; he hates everyone.

Welcome to Week 2 of White Collar Submission. I will take you through MMA training from the viewpoint of a young white collar husband and father of two. After a rough first week of Jiu-Jitsu training, I wasn’t sure how my body would react to another night of grappling. Considering that I spend most of my working days sitting at a desk in the air conditioning, my body was in shock after attempting so much physical labor.

If you watched The Ultimate Fighter 5 Episode 8, you saw, as TUF contender Cole Miller put it, the “most technical street fight ever.” Lightweights Noah Thomas and Marlon Sims put their MMA careers in jeopardy when they decided to settle a score outside the ring after drinking a bit too much. And by “outside the ring”, we mean in the backyard on top of concrete porches and flower gardens. Ultimate Fighting Championship’s President Dana White didn’t like the idea of two of his lightweights making fighting look bad; an irony in itself. White removed both fighters from the TUF 5 house and in his words, banned them from UFC. Typical of White, there was a lot swearing, his uncertain look, and a controlling mind that was already made.

On June 2nd of 2007, the Gracie hunting season came to an end. The previously Gracie-undefeated Kazushi Sakuraba barely fell to Royce Gracie at the hands of the judges during the latest K-1 Heroes promotion on June 2nd, 2007. Gracie barely prevailed with scores of 30-27, 29-28, and 29-28 at the end of the three rounds while Sakuraba looked mildly confused and waited for the next round to start. It’s been 7 years since the first matchup at the 2000 Pride Grand Prix and an end to Sakuraba being undefeated in the ring with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu family.
